Rotfangs’ Night Goblins of Grung Byrn

A member of the Crooked Moon tribe, Rotfang the Redcap is a cunning and treacherous goblin boss. After leading a series of successful raids on dwarf mines in the Worlds Edge Mountains, Skarsnik of the Eight Peaks himself ordered Rotfang to lead a campaign of carnage in the Grey Mountains. After securing a foothold in the dwarf mines at Grung Byrn, Rotfang has been using the skaven and dwarf tunnel systems to launch devistating raids on the surrounding area. Pillaging as far north as Gunere, in Bretonnia, and as far south as the dwarf hold of Karak Grom. It was here that Rotfang got his name “The Redcap”.  After slaying Thane Skaggi Goldtooth, he soaked his hood in the young dwarfs blood and wore it into combat against Skaggis’ father, Lord Hildir Starhammer at the battle of West Vaults, Imperial year 2522.

  1. Really nice painting, and they look great together. Gaming wise, how do you find the lack of BSB? With the low leadership of Goblins I would have thought that would be critical.

    1. Thanks Argentbadger! You are the first to comment on my blog! Honestly I have never played a game with a pure goblin force (unless you count the few games played directly out of the battle for skull pass box). I think this army will struggle with leadership, but my friends and I play 7th edition and the BSB only gives re-rolls for break tests. You are probably right though, I painted the unit standard bearers so they can act as BSBs, one with a Bad Moon on a Stick (gives the night goblin unit stubborn) and one with Rowdy Grott’s Big Red Raggedy Banner (all goblins within 12″ re-roll panic tests). I may have change things up if my army keeps fleeing the field turn 2 ;). I did throw the Horn of Urgok on my general, it gives all of my army +1 Ld and the enemy -1 Ld, maybe that will be enough… Ld 7 still sucks. We shall see.

  2. Nice movement trays and always good to see Snotlings. I have a 2000pt Snotling Army waiting to be painted, a lot of bases if you can imagine. It’s a pity they’re not unbreakable anymore.

    1. Thanks! I made the movement trays out of an envelope box and sprue pieces. 2000 points of Snotlings is quite ambitious, but the ones I’ve seen so far look fantastic. I love all the different varieties of mushrooms you’ve made.
